Kitsap On Parade Honors Armed Forces Day & Viking Fest
In I948, the Bremerton Chamber of Commerce organized a parade honoring local serviceman John “Bud” Hawk after he was presented with the Medal of Honor for his heroism in World War II. The next year Armed Forces Day became a national holiday honoring all branches of service. The Bremerton Armed Forces Day Parade has been running ever since and is the longest running Armed Forces Day Parade in the nation.
Once again this year, 20,000 people will line the streets of Bremerton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21 to celebrate our local armed forces at the 75th Annual Armed Forces Day Festival and Parade. This year’s Parade Grand Marshal is VADM Jonny R. Wolfe, Director of Strategic Systems Programs.
Quality Heating salutes this honorary occasion and all of its participants. We are proud to serve our region’s dedicated service members and their families from our neighboring communities including Bangor, Keyport and the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton.
